Acacia, your friendly neighborhood Naderite
Well, since Acacia is basically all over Basket Case and she's been asking for her own page, I thought I'd give one to her.  She's not just a cute little mascot, you know, she has a personality and a story and a bunch of other characters who interact with her.  So here's Acacia's page, so that you can learn more about her.

Her story
Acacia is from this novel that I'm writing.  It's called Third (as in, third party?) and it was originally about the 2000 election but it's turned into more a novel about college life (since my mom's writing teacher last year said there's never been a really good novel about college life, so I set out to write one!).  Acacia is the main character, and there's basically a character to represent every main political party (Dem and GOP, of course, and also Green, Reform, Libertarian, etc).

Personality
Acacia is a rabid bleeding-heart liberal...but that's a GOOD THING!  Her party affiliation is, as I like to say, so green it puts Ireland to shame.  And she's very adamant about that, and she doesn't like people who disagree with her.  She's very set in her beliefs.  But if you're liberal she'll get along with you just fine and be very friendly.  She's a vegan of course, no leather, and she's also a wiccan (I'm not sure what type but once I learn more about the religion I'll figure out what type Acacia would be).  She may look cute, but don't be fooled, she's actually quite tough.  Acacia sometimes uses her kawaiiness to get what she wants (like making the big puppy-eyes face at Darius to get him to take her to the Democratic convention).  She can be a bitch, but only when people are attacking her beliefs or her friends (once she slapped Marie for saying bad stuff about Percy).  So she's good to have on your side, but if you get on the wrong side, watch out.  And don't utter any form of the phrase "Nader took votes away from Gore" around her if you value the use of your right arm.

Her supporting cast

Enriqueta Silvano: Acacia's older sister, Enri is 21 and a Republican, which is a source of great distress for Acacia, especially since Enriqueta is almost as gung-ho for the GOP as Acacia is for the greens.

Gabriella Barber: Acacia's 14-year-old cousin and one of her best friends.  Acacia is worried about her because Gaby's dad Frank is really conservative and she doesn't want Gaby to turn out the same way.  Oh yeah, and she calls Gaby "Swishie" and Gaby calls her "Cookiedragon"...it's a cousin thing.  Don't ask.

Her parents: Lucy and Edgardo...neither of them really have any party affiliation.  They're Independents, but for different reasons.  Lucy is a moderate, and Edgardo is more liberal.  So naturally Acacia gets along better with her dad.

Calliope McManus: Acacia's best friend since they both went to Challenger Middle School together.  Cal is 18, she's African-American and she does ballet at almost a professional level.  Cal, however, couldn't care less about politics, and this disturbs Acacia so she's always trying to get Calliope involved in political stuff.

Trinity Santiago: Acacia's ex-boyfriend...yes, Trinity can be a guy's name.  Anyway, Trin is a Libertarian and he's basically a younger version of Bill Maher.  Acacia gets along really well with Trinity despite this (even though when she's really pissed off with him she doesn't refer to him by his name but just as "that smirky bastard").  Trinity is very sarcastic and cheeky, and he's also bisexual...he likes to hit on Darius and watch him squirm. ^-^

Marie Christensen: Is Acacia's worst nightmare.  She's as conservative as Acacia is liberal, and she thinks that Pat Buchanan is God (except she'd never SAY that, oh no, we must not take the Lord's name in vain).  She's a super-religious, Jesus-freaky Southern baptist...and she's also Enriqueta's best friend.  Yahoo.

Darius Fuyutsuki: Enriqueta's boyfriend, who's a year older than she is, and he's a Democrat too.  Acacia likes him okay, and sometimes they talk, but after the election is over he avoids her like the plague.  Nothing personal, he just develops this...enmity against Greens since Gore lost.

Persephone Cartwright: More commonly known as Percy, she's another of Acacia's friends (although she's really closer to Trinity).  Her political views match Acacia's the most out of all Acacia's friends, and she's Independent for the moment: Percy can't decide between the two liberalish parties, Democrat and Green.  Seph-chan takes dance classes with Calliope, and she's a spotight seeker - she really likes to perform.  She's also bi, about a 4.9 on the Kinsey Scale, whereas Trinity is almost exactly 3.  She and Acacia met through the UCSD Gay-Straight Alliance.
